Co-Designer & Co-Fabricator
Created for an Exhibit Design class led by Nancy Hechinger and Eric Siegel, the director of the NY Hall of Science, Slippery Slopes was all about friction. In collaboration with Chris Allick, Peter Holzkorn and Sara Huong, we designed an inclinable "racetrack" that could be paved with various granular materials of the visitors choice. The visitors then get to witness what happens when "racecars" are placed on this newly paved track, as the track is lifted up.
While visitors will learn a few things about friction, what they can learn, almost unknowingly is the skill of hypothesis and experimentation. Many visitors tried two or more materials with different "racecars" and explained to us why they thought that material or car would be faster.
